Iseltwald and a few other Swiss destinations were selected in 2019 to be part of a 16-part Netflix series thanks to their beautiful scenery.
The romantic TV drama “Crash Landing on You” is about a woman from South Korea who, through no fault of her own, ends up unconscious in North Korea. The problem: crossing the border between these two countries is an absolute no-go.
The North Korean army officer who finds her falls in love with her instead of punishing her. She falls in love with him too, so viewers get 16 episodes of drama, romance and suspense. When they both realise they have already met once in Switzerland, the series regularly flashes back to that time.
The “Piano Pier” in Iseltwald
In episode 3 of “Crash Landing on You”, army officer Ri Jeong-hyeok (played by Hyun Bin) remembers his time as a pianist. On the pier in Iseltwald, he plays a song he composed for his brother.
This pier is just a few minutes’ walk from our Hotel Chalet Du Lac and is definitely a wonderful place to linger, dream and simply unwind.
Our tip: In the evening, you can enjoy breathtaking sunsets from this pier. Ask at reception for a good bottle of wine and enjoy this moment together.
The walk to the Giessbach Falls
In another scene, army officer Ri Jeong-hyeok walks along the beautiful shores of Lake Brienz towards Giessbach and the Giessbach Falls together with paragliding pilot Yoon Se Ri (played by Son Yejin). We have published a detailed hiking route to the Giessbach Falls here for you.
